Aptiva - Disabling Mwave modem on Windows 95 systems
Applicable to: World-Wide
Symptom:
One needs to free system I/O and IRQ resources for the Mwave Modem for use by another device.
Solution:
1. Click on START.
2. Click on CONTROL PANEL.
3. Locate the SYSTEM icon (usually it is necessary to scroll down.)
4. Go to DEVICE MANAGER.
5. Click on the plus sign (+) next to MODEMS.
6. Select the MWAVE MODEM underneath the MODEMS heading.
7. Click on the PROPERTIES button.
8. Remove the check mark from the box next to ORIGINAL CONFIGURATION.
This should disable the Mwave Modem. Next, reboot the computer. The I/O port and IRQ the modem was configured on will now be freed.
