IBM IntelliStation M Pro - Windows NT 4.0 installation cannot proceed
Applicable to: World-Wide
SYMPTOM:
During a first time, or reinstallation of Windows NT 4.0, the installation routine reports that it cannot proceed each time the "OK" button is clicked after testing the Cirrus Logic video chipset.
PROBLEM ISOLATION AIDS:
This tip applies to the IBM IntelliStation M Pro Series 6889 systems equipped with an Intergraph Intense 3D video adapter.
During the installation, Windows NT detects the Cirrus Logic chipset on the Intergraph adapter and a message to click the test button appears. An error message that the bitmap was displayed incorrectly "because of the limitation of the video adapter or display monitor" appears and prompts the user that the settings should be changed. The error message is repeated each tine the "Ok" button is clicked.
FIX:
The error message can be safely bypassed.
Click the "Cancel" button to ignore the error message and proceed with the installation.
Windows NT is a trademark of Microsoft Corporation.
