TP 600,770 - How to determine if the ACP modem code is running
Applicable to: World-Wide
The ACP modem code not only needs to be installed on the ThinkPad, but it must also be running on the ThinkPad for the modem to function properly. To check and see if the ACP modem code is running in Windows 98, click on Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> System Information -> Software Environment -> Running tasks. Something similar to below should appear.
The programs MWMWIN.EXE and MWSW95.EXE should be listed to indicate that the ACP modem code is running in the background.
Note:
Not all ThinkPad 600 and 770 models come with the ACP modem.
If you do not see those programs running, simply click on Start ==> Programs ==> ThinkPad Modem ==> Modem to start the modem software.
