Aptiva - Using the Aptiva Installer to reinstall applications

Symptom:
The Aptiva Installer allows you to selectively install and remove certain components of the preload. The components covered by the Installer are:
Aptiva Communication Centre
Aptiva Desktop Customisation
Aptiva Guide
Mwave drivers
Mwave full MIDI samples
Mwave medium MIDI samples
[MCI] Aptiva SoftMPEG & VideoCD
The Installer is available either as an icon on the desktop, or from the Start menu bar.
The installer has three pages:
Install New Program
Show Installed Programs
Show Uninstalled Programs
Install New Programs:
This page assists with the installation of new software. It has a FIND INSTALL PROGRAM button, which will cause the system to search all floppy and CD-ROM drives for installation programs. The idea is that you've inserted the new diskette/CD-ROM at this point. The installation can then be started.
Show Installed Programs:
This page shows an icon for each component that has been installed (and is covered by the installer). Select an icon, and
then click on REINSTALL or UNINSTALL.
Show Uninstalled Programs:
This page is almost the same as the previous one, but shows icons for all programs which have been uninstalled using the Installer. Select an icon, then click on INSTALL.

Restrictions of the Aptiva Installer:
This program is really just a clever front end that ties in with the normal install/uninstall routines of software packages. As such, the Installer can only uninstall applications which have and uninstall program. Also, it may have trouble finding strangely-named installation programs.
The installer will keep track of the bundled CD titles even if they are installed by another method.
