IBM 4.2GB Deskstar 4 EIDE Hard Drive - Drive not recognized correctly by PC
Applicable to: World-Wide
Problem:
PC recognizes 4.2GB Deskstar 4 HD as less than 4.2GB.
Solution:
Note: Make sure the Drive is supported in the system. If so, do the following:
1. Make sure High Performance Mode is enabled.
2. Upgrade the PC to the latest BIOS level for the type
3. OS/2 Merlin fixpack 1 fixes a problem that only the Primary controllers Primary and Secondary will see greater than 540 Mb drives. Get the fixpack and the primary and secondary controllers will see greater than 540 Mb drives.
4. Ensure that READ PREFETCH is disabled.
