IBM 9513 Monitors - Suspend

Applicable to: World-Wide

Symptom:
Screen goes blue if the monitor is suspended from the Operating System. If the monitor itself is set to suspend after a certain time, it suspends whether or not there is activity.

Explanation:
There are two ways to suspend the TFT monitor. One is through the software in Windows. (Go to display properties, screen saver tab, the two bottom checkboxes are for energy saving monitor suspend). This functions exactly the same as with the CRT monitors we ship -- if the system is inactive for a certain amount of time, the monitor will suspend, and will wake up when the mouse/keyboard has activity. In this suspend, the monitor shows a blue screen until mouse/keyboard is activated, then the regular picture appears.

The second way to suspend the TFT is through the TFT menu on the monitor. This does not go through the software at all, and the monitor will suspend after a certain amount of time, no matter if there is keyboard/mouse activity or not. The default on the monitors tested is not to enable this type of suspend, the user would have to turn it on. Pressing a button on the monitor face will wake the monitor from this type of suspend. The screen for this is dark, not blue.
