IdeaScan Color Flatbed Scanner - Improving the scanner performance and speed
Applicable to: World-Wide
To enhance the scanner performance and accelerate the scan time, try one or all of the following:
- If the system supports the Enhanced Parallel Port (EPP) mode, change the parallel port mode to EPP. Slower scanner performance and slower scanning time may be experienced with the parallel port mode set to SPP. Contact the manufacturer of your system for assistance with entering the system BIOS and changing the parallel port setting to EPP.
- Reduce the size of the image to speed up the scan time. The larger the image the more data must be transferred and processed. Large file sizes will take much longer to scan and they will fill up your hardfile very quickly.
- Scan in lower resolutions. Scan in a resolution that is appropriate for the job. High-resolution (high dpi) scans will drastically increase the file size required for the image. There is a table in the hardcopy UserĘs Guide outlining recommended settings for typical tasks.
- Set the IBM Scanner TWAIN program compression mode to "Speed mode" to accelerate the scan time for scans higher than 300 dpi. Use the quality mode setting to slow down scanning speed and enhance the image quality.
- Close applications on the desktop not currently needed.
