TP 760E/ED - PCMCIA Support Not Working After BIOS Upgrade
Applicable to: World-Wide
Symptom:
After a BIOS upgrade on this family Windows 95 will sometimes revert the PCMCIA from the preloaded Thinkpad drivers to the Windows 95 drivers. This can cause some PCMCIA cards to stop functioning. The following procedure should be used.
Problem Isolation Aid:
None
Fix:
To check which drivers are in use:
1. Open Device Manager and expand the PCMCIA Socket
2. The device should read...."PCIC or compatible PCMCIA controller on IBM system". This indicates the IBM drivers are in use. If this is not the case, follow these steps to change the drivers in use to the IBM drivers.
a. With Device Manager open and the PCMCIA Socket expanded, open the properties of the PCMCIA controller.
b. Select the Driver tab.
c. Click on Change Driver.
d. Select "PCIC or compatible PCMCIA controller on IBM system" from the list displayed and click OK and then OK again on the following screen.
e. At the prompt, shutdown and restart the system. The IBM drivers are now being used.
