How do I get to information on my particular IBM Monitor or Terminal?

Applicable to: World-Wide

The products in the Monitors brand follow the same Brand, Product Family, Machine Type, and Model hierarchy as the system units. However, due to the unique nature of some Monitor products, the scheme used for the Product Family, Machine Type, and Model are a little different from the system units - - this may prove to be confusing for some database users. To help understand how to navigate through the site to find information on your specific Monitor, the information below is being provided. It defines the Product Families and generally explains what Monitors can be found under each Product Family. On this site, the information on the Monitor's bezel is used to help you identify the Product Family that your monitor falls under; therefore, it is important that you understand what a Monitor bezel is:

The Monitor bezel is the frame of the monitor that surrounds the screen; similar to a picture frame.

Product Family

Types of Monitors that can be found under this Product Family and how they are identified.

C Series (C50/C70/etc.)

IBM Monitors that have the IBM logo on the bottom left of the bezel as well as the letter C followed by 2 or 3 numbers, such as C50 or C70, on the bottom right of the bezel.

Flat Panel

These IBM Monitors are easily distinguished by their flat design.

G Series (G40/G50/etc.)

IBM Monitors that have the IBM logo on the bottom left of the bezel as well as the letter G followed by 2 or 3 numbers, such as G40 or G50, on the bottom right of the bezel.

IBM logo only

IBM Monitors that only have the IBM logo on the bezel. Typically Aptiva Monitors fall under this category.

Industrial

These are IBM Monitors that were designed for specific industrial use such as retail.

Multimedia (MM50/MM70/etc.)

IBM Monitors that have the IBM logo on the bottom left of the bezel as well as the letters MM followed by 2 or 3 numbers, such as MM50 or MM70, on the bottom right of the bezel.

P Series (P50/P70/etc.)

IBM Monitors that have the IBM logo on the bottom left of the bezel as well as the letter P followed by 2 or 3 numbers, such as P50 or P70, on the bottom right of the bezel.

Personal System/2

IBM Monitors that have the IBM Personal System/2 or IBM Personal System/2 Color Display logo on the top left of the bezel.

PS/1

IBM Monitors that have PS/1 on the bottom or bottom/recessed portion of the bezel. These monitors use a 7 digit part number (ex. 33G2834), which is located on the back of the monitor, instead of a machine type and model (ex. 2144-001). For the sake of consistency concerning navigating this site, the first four digits of the part number will appear under the machine type selection list and the last three digits will appear in the model selection list.

PS/ValuePoint

IBM Monitors that have PS/ValuePoint on the bezel.

SE40

IBM Monitors that have the IBM logo on the bezel as well as the verbiage SE40.

Size labeled (14R/15V/etc.)

IBM Monitors that have the IBM logo on the bezel as well as some number letter combination, such as 14R, 15R, 14L8, 17V, etc., on the bottom right of the bezel.

Terminals

Various markings on the bezel including InfoWindow, InfoWindow II, ASCII Display. Terminals are easily identified in that there is normally a keyboard directly connected to it.

Note: The Type/Model (M/T) number and serial number (S/N) can be found on a tag on either the:

of the monitor.
