Aptiva - 2140/2142 Considerations - Ring Central

Applicable to: World-Wide

RingCentral controls system volume levels.

Detail:
The volume slider control in Ring Central controls overall system volume. Likewise, changing the system volume using the monitor volume control or other means, will change the volume level in RingCentral. If the customer reduces the volume while in game or other application, they may not be able to hear the phone ring, or use the speakerphone properly.

Answer / Workaround:
In order for the RING tone to be heard, and for speakerphone to work properly, the user must keep the volume level at an audible level. A setting of 15 - 50 on the monitor volume display is typically the preferred setting.

System sounds are UNmuted when speakerphone switches to handset.

Detail:
When using the speakerphone function in RingCentral, the volume level for CD audio and other system sounds is reduced. If the customer switches to handset, the volume levels are switched back to original levels. This may be an annoyance for the customer as they will have to then MUTE the system manually.

Answer / Workaround:
RingCentral has no way to detect if the handset has been picked up, thus it cannot control system volume when the user is on the regular phone handset. This is a limitation of the system.

Phone numbers are not displayed in Phonebook in the Send FAX /DATA dialogs.

Detail:
Click on "Quick Fax", if you click on the "PHONEBOOK" button, it will bring up the entries from the Phonebook to select the entries. From the Fax dialog, the entries have the FAX Number shown, in DATA, the entries have the DATA Number shown. If the entry does not contain the appropriate number, the number section appears blank.

Answer / Workaround:
If no number is displayed, then one has not been entered. This will also create a problem sending the fax or data to this party. You must EDIT this phonebook entry, add the missing information, then send the fax or data.

Bad sounding phone ring when Helicops is running.

1. Start RC to receive a call (set rings to answer on 6 rings, Menu -> Options -> Answering).
2. Start Helicops, and start playing a game.
3. Call RC 4. Helicops will stop playing and ring will not sound the way it usually does.

Call status not correct when changing from a video to an audio internet call.

Detail:
When a user transitions from Internet Video call to Internet audio call, the status line in RingCentral is not updated.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Log on to the Internet on both systems.
2. Initialize the H323 stack by clicking the Internet button and call from one machine to another in voice call first mode.
3. After connecting return to an audio only internet call. (The status now reads Internet video call instead of Internet video call.)

Answer / Workaround:
The Internet call is not interrupted, and functions properly. Due to the fact that the user would have chosen to switch to a voice only call, the fact that the display still says "Video" should not generate concerns. Therefore, this item is deferred until the next release.

Printing from Mighty Math to fax printer causes problems.

Detail:
If you try to print to a fax driver from inside "Mighty Math-Number Heros", you will receive a VPHONE GPF.
Steps to Recreation:
1. Install Mighty Math Number Heroes, and launch.
2. Choose "Guest" as your name by double clicking on "Guest."
3. Select "Geo Computer," the robot that is flying in the top right corner. A game board should appear with dots on it.
4. Look at the pictures and icons in the left panel. Click on the fax icon->Cancel(to cancel the fax)-> Click the "X" to close Ring Central-> ->Click "Yes.". After a moment, you should see the error, also, you may receive a R0video.GPF. After the GPF, the screen will flash back and forth, and the sound will come and go as Ring Central and Number Heros "fight" for focus on the screen.

Answer / Workaround:
This is a limitation of the print function in Number Heros. The print function has been disabled by default, however, the users have the option of changing it in the 'preferences'. This will occur when printing to either Ring Central fax, Microsoft Fax, or any other FAX DRIVER. Once the problem has occurred, the only way to escape the loop is to either press ALT-TAB to get Ring Central focus long enough for you to Close it down, OR, you can use CTRL-ALT-DEL and END TASK for Ring Central.

Volume springs from 04 to 49.

Detail:
If the volume control is set below 5, it will automatically adjust up to 49.
To recreate:
1. Open Ring Central.
2. Turn the volume control slowly down on the monitor.
3. Note that the volume control also goes down on Ring Central.
4. When you reach 04, the volume will spring back up to 49.

Answer / Workaround:
This is working as designed. It was decided that 5% volume was too low for a ring to be heard and a speakerphone conversation to be carried on. RingCentral checks the volume and if it falls lower than 5% it is adjusted to 50%.

"Delete Message" button on EZ Button keyboard not working properly.

Detail:
On the EZ Button keyboard there is a button labeled "Delete Messages". This key is designed to delete NEW, voice messages from the mailbox while they are being played, ONLY. This button does nothing with old messages, Email, or before/after a NEW voice message is played.

Answer / Workaround:
In order to use this button the message must be a VOICE message, must be NEW and must still be playing. If it does not meet the above criteria, you must select the message in the Messages folder, then click on "Delete" to remove the message.

Cannot set Ring Central to dial long distance in same area code.

Detail:
If you need to dial specific telephone prefixes long distance within your same area code, there is no settings within Ring Central to arrange this. You must either dial 1- all the time, or none of the time.

Answer / Workaround:
Enter the area code as normal, then, enter the entire number you wish to dial in the phone number section. (i.e 1-919-517-0001)

Voice instructions sending a fax remotely should be reworded.

Detail:
When sending/forwarding a fax remotely (over the phone by calling into Ring Central), it prompts you for the CountryCode and AreaCode and you have to enter it, even if you do not need it.

Answer / Workaround:
Deferred to next program. Will look into making additional choice available to allow you to press "#" or something to bypass that option if you don't need it.

Disconnect from Internet during QuickFax attempt.

Detail:
When user is connected to Internet via IGN, Ring Central allows user to try to send a QuickFax. During the user's first attempt to send a QuickFax, Ring Central disconnects the user from IGN (without bothering to ask) and fails to send the fax. Also, if the user reconnects to IGN, then any subsequent attempts to send QuickFaxes from Ring Central are queued and sent after the user disconnects from IGN. The user, however, is never given any messages from Ring Central that his/her faxes will be queued.

Answer / Workaround:
This occurs with RingCentral because it is designed to initialize the modem upon launch, this will disconnect the phone without warning. This is a limitation of the Ring Central application. No workarounds available, other than to not attempt to send a fax while using the phone line on the Internet.

No new messages not true if jumped over a message.

Detail:
If there are multiple recorded messages, and you listen to the first, then as the 2nd is playing, hit the 'next' EZ Button, Ring Central will skip to the 3rd message (That part is normal). After playing the 3rd message, you are left with 1 message in the mailbox (the one which was skipped over), but the voice when you check for messages says: 'You have no new messages'.

Answer / Workaround:
This is a limitation of the RingCentral application. There are no workarounds at this time.

Delete msgs function has problems.

Detail:
Occasionally the "Delete Messages" EZ Button will not function as expected. For example: Record 3 messages, hit the play messages EZ Button, then as each message was playing (after the header) press the "Delete Messages" EZ Button. After deleting all 3 messages, note that the indicator is still flashing that you have messages. If you check for messages then in RingCentral, note that there are now "0 New Messages" and "1 Old Message". The old will actually be the last message that was deleted. Upon hitting play on that, the message count will then change to 0. Deleting all 3 messages should have resulted in a count of 0 and no messages to be found in either old or new boxes. This will not occur every time, however, it is likely to be seen at some time.

Answer / Workaround:
This is a limitation of the RingCentral application. There are no workarounds at this time.
