Aptiva-PS/1 - What is the CHKDSK command?
Applicable to: World-Wide
The CHKDSK command (referred to as 'check disk') analyzes the directories, files, and the file allocation table (FAT) on the specified drive. Then, it produces a disk and memory status report which is displayed on the screen. It has parameters that allow you to fix errors found on the disk or in the FAT. CHKDSK also displays the volume serial number and label of the disk in the status report. You should run CHKDSK occasionally for your disks in order to ensure the integrity of the file structures.
