Additional Information:	The microcode controlling your CD-ROM drive may need to be updated to improve the functionality of the drive. This is accomplished by installing new code into the Electrically Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory, or EEPROM, located inside the CD-ROM. First, you must determine if your CD-ROM drive requires the upgrade. Follow these steps: 1) Power-on the computer. 2) When the Windows 98 desktop is reached, right click my computer, highlight properties and click on it. 3) Click the tab marked Device Manager, and then click on the plus symbol next to the CD-ROM symbol. 4) Highlight ATAPI CD-ROM DRIVE - 32X, then click on the button labeled Properties at the bottom of the Device Manager panel. 5) Click the Settings tab on the ATAPI CD-ROM DRIVE panel. 6) Check the firmware revision number located at the top left of the screen. It will show something like 32CP. If the firmware revision is 32KP or less, you should download and install the updated microcode. An example of a lesser level of microcode is 32CP. Follow the instructions below to install the updated microcode: First, you must extract the file you have downloaded to a diskette. You will need a 1.4 megabye 3.5" diskette for this. Please follow the following steps: 1) Insert the diskette into your machine. 2) From Windows Explorer or a command prompt, execute 2153CDK.EXE. 3) Follow the prompts to write the file to the diskette. To install the microcode update to your system, follow the following steps: 1) Shut the system down normally. (Click on Start | Shutdown. Select "Shut Down" and click OK.) 2) Be sure the diskette you created in the steps above is inserted into the floppy disk drive. 3) Boot the system. The update will be installed automatically. 4) After the update has been installed, remove the diskette and restart the system.
