Aptiva-PS/1 - Avoiding overlapping of icon labels in Windows 3.x

The procedure listed below allows for increase spacing between icons. This allows you to keep long labels for program item icons that overlap in windows without shortening those icon labels.
1. In the Main Group window, double-click on the Control Panel.
2. Double-click on the Desktop icon.
3. In the Icon Spacing box, click the UP scroll arrow or type a new number for horizontal icon spacing. The spacing numbers represent pixels, the smallest unit of screen measurement. To see a noticeable increase in spacing, try using increments of 10.
NOTE: Do not select zero. Windows will not run properly if you select zero.
4. Choose OK to confirm the settings and close the dialog box.
5. Close the Control Panel.
6. To see changes for application icons, from the Task List (press CTRL + ESC to see the Task List), choose Arrange Icons.
7. To see changes for document and program item icons, from the Windows menu, choose Arrange Icons.
