IBM PC330/PC350 - Installing P24T on 486 models and interposer
Applicable to: World-Wide
Description :
To install P24T on PC300 486 models, check following:
Look at the planar from the front, find resistor R6 which is located in front of the processor on the right hand side. If the resistor is not there, then you can populate the P24T without the interposer. Otherwise if R6 is there, an interposer is required to sit between the P24T chip and the socket.
Most PC300 486 systems' planar boards should now have the R6 removed, i.e. they can support P24T without the interposer. These planar board FRU numbers include:
96G2470
96G2471
96G2472
96G1815
96G1816
96G2948
However, if both P24T and PCI riser card (SelectaBus) need to be installed in the PC300 486 system, only one version of the system board (96G2471) can be used. Call IBM to change the system board to this FRU number if required.
