IBM PC730/PC750 - Failures with Hyundai SIMMs

Applicable to: World-Wide

Symptom:
PC 700 systems configured with Hyundai 4MB or 8MB SIMMs may exhibit one or more of the following symptoms:
- Intermittent system hangs,
- 110 Parity errors in DOS,
- Error message indicating "Unreliable XMS memory at location "xxxxxxxx" with DOS 6.x,
- Trap 0002 error with OS/2 2.x and OS/2 WARP 3.0
- System hangs with Windows NT.

Problem Isolation Aids:
Check the system for the following Hyundai memory SIMMs:
- 4Mb memory, P/N74G1187
- 8Mb memory, P/N05H0910
The above SIMMs are affected only if they contain modules indentified as 14400A J-70, with a date code prior to 9441 and contain a "B" suffix. For example, a date code of 9371B would be a suspect part, however, 9371A would not be affected. Advanced diagnostics run without errors.

Fix:
Replace affected SIMMs with FRU P/N73G3233 (4MB) or FRU P/N92G7521 (8MB). UK warranty stock will not contain the affected Hyundai SIMMs.
