1.0 What You Will Need
A licensed copy of SCO UnixWare 7.0.1 Enterprise Edition.
Supported hard disk drives identified on the IBM Compatibility Web site. Refer to http://www.pc.ibm.com/us/compat for a list of supported options and part numbers for your server.
A supported adapter identified on the IBM Compatibility Web site. Refer to http://www.pc.ibm.com/us/compat for a list of supported options and part numbers for your server.
If you have added PC ServeRAID II Adapter, you will need:
IBM ServeRAID Configuration Diskette, v2.82 (part number 01K7632) or later.
IBM ServeRAID BIOS Firmware Update Diskette 1, v3.01 (part number 01K7560) or later.
IBM ServeRAID BIOS Firmware Update Diskette 2, v3.01 (part number 01K7561) or later.
One blank diskette to create an Emergency Repair Diskette (label it, Emergency Repair Diskette).

If you are very familiar with SCSI, hardware, and the installation process, continue with 3.0 Quick installation instructions for experienced users. If not, continue with 4.0 Detailed installation instructions.
3.0 Quick installation instructions for experienced users
1. Any Netfinity 5000 Server with a system Basic Input/Output System (BIOS) level less than 20A will need to be flashed. Verify that you are at the latest level of BIOS by checking the IBM web/ftp/bbs site for Netfinity 5000 Flash BIOS Update diskette. MOKT20A was the latest level at the time that this document was published.
2. Insert the SCO UnixWare v7.01 Installation Diskette Volume: 1 of 2 and start (boot) the server. At the startup (boot) prompt, press Enter.
4.0 Detailed installation instructions
If you are using the optional IBM ServeRAID II Adapter as your startup controller or as a secondary SCSI controller, see Appendix A: Notes for ServeRAID II adapter users and Appendix B: Installation procedure for ServeRAID II adapter users for additional installation notes and procedures.
4.1 Setting up the BIOS
1. Power-on the server and press F1 when the IBM logo is in the window to enter Configuration/Setup.
2. Highlight the menu option System Information and then select Product Data and press Enter. The Flash EEPROM Revision Level field contains the BIOS version. The numbers in positions 5, 6, and 7 of the level are the current BIOS level (for example, in MOKT20AUS, the BIOS level is 20A, and the language is U.S. English).
3. Verify that you are at the latest level of BIOS by checking the IBM web/ftp/bbs site for Netfinity 5000 Flash BIOS Update diskette. MOKT20A was the latest level at the time that this document was published.
4. If your BIOS needs to be updated, download the appropriate image and build the diskette image by running the .EXE file, answering Y on the last page of the licensing agreement.
5. Boot with the BIOS diskette in the diskette drive and answer the questions presented during installation appropriately. After the BIOS update is complete, you may receive a '162 Configuration has changed' error at startup time. Ignore this message.
Note: If you do not see the '162 Configuration has changed' message at startup (boot) time, you will need to press F1 when the IBM logo is on the screen to enter back into Setup.
4.2 Installing SCO UnixWare v7.0.1
1. Insert the SCO UnixWare v7.01 Installation Diskette Volume: 1 of 2 and start (boot) the server. Follow the window instructions that will guide you through the installation and note the following.
Defaults may be taken unless specified otherwise.
At the startup (boot) prompt, press Enter.
The license number and code are case sensitive.
At the window for selecting network adapters, select Defer network configuration until after the installation is complete. The network configuration manager or netconfig can be run at that time to configure any installed network adapters and protocols. Be sure to check the SCO bulletin board system (BBS) or Web site for the latest Network Interface Card (NIC) drivers and/or release supplements that might be required.
All other installation components (choosing system/owner names, software, setting up your startup hard disk drive/file systems, root passwords, and so on) are dependent upon the specifications of your site. Consult your local system administrator for details.
2. After the installation is complete, remove any diskettes or other media; then, press Enter to restart the server.
3. At the startup prompt Boot:, press Enter.
4. At the window for selecting the mouse, select PS/2-compatible Mouse .
5. It is highly recommended that CD-ROM 2 Updates be installed after the installation of UnixWare v7.01. Installing CD-ROM 3 Optional Services is optional.
Appendix A: Notes for ServeRAID II adapter users
The following notes are applicable if the IBM ServeRAID II Adapter is being used, either as the startup controller or as a secondary SCSI controller.
All ServeRAID II logical array drives must be initialized and synchronized before installing any operating system.
When both the ServeRAID II and integrated SCSI controllers are used, the ServeRAID II controller will default to the startup controller if logical drives are defined.
Appendix B: Installation procedure for ServeRAID II adapter users
Use the following procedure ONLY if the IBM ServeRAID II Adapter is being used, either as the startup controller or as a secondary SCSI controller. The following procedure assumes that the ServeRAID II logical drives have already been configured.
1. Obtain the latest ServeRAID Configuration diskette 01K7632.EXE (part number might vary) for logical drive configuration.
2. Insert the SCO UnixWare v7.01 Installation Diskette Volume: 1 of 2 and start (boot) the server. Follow the window instructions that will guide you through the installation.
3. At the window for installing HBA Diskette(s), select Install HBA Diskette. Insert the HBA diskette; then, press Enter.
4. The remaining installation steps are not dependent on any additional ServeRAID II configuration information. The generic installation process should be followed for the remainder of the installation. See section 4.2 Installing SCO UnixWare v7.0.1 for the remaining steps.
