TP General - How to activate the IR ports
Applicable to: World-Wide
This document contains instructions on how to activate the Infrared Port.
Note: By default Infrared is enabled
On ThinkPads that have 'ThinkPad Features':
1. Start ThinkPad Features.
2. Click on the Infrared Icon on the left side.
3. Click on Enable so that the port may be used.
4. Click on Both to enable both ports.
5. Click on On for Power to turn the power on.
6. Click on the Advanced... button.
7. Select Com Port 1.
8. Click on the Ok button.
9. Close ThinkPad Features and reboot the ThinkPad.
ThinkPad 701:
1. Turn the ThinkPad on.
2. Press Fn+F1 after it is booted.
3. Press Page Down twice.
4. Using the down arrow select User Port settings and press the Enter key.
5. Again using the arrow keys select the Infrared Port.
6. With it selected press the right arrow key until it reads Serial_1.
7. Press the Escape key twice and answer Yes to the save changes prompt.
8. Reboot the ThinkPad.
ThinkPad 365C/CD/E/ED:
1. Turn the ThinkPad on.
2. Go to a full screen Command Prompt.
3. Press Ctrl-Alt-F11.
4. Using the down arrow key select Serial 2.
5. Use the right/left arrow keys to toggle the setting to IR.
6. Press the Escape key and then press F4 to save the settings and reboot the system.
