Aptiva - Missing Microsoft FAX in Windows 98

Some users may be familiar with and accustomed to having the Microsoft FAX applet within the Microsoft Windows operating systems. Windows 95 had a built in Fax application, called Microsoft FAX, that allowed sending and receiving of faxes. Windows 98 does not include this function.

To enable your computer to send and/or receive faxes you must have or obtain the following:

• Data & FAX modem: Most modems currently on the market will operate as both DATA and FAX. Refer to your system documentation to determine if your computer came with a FAX capable modem.

• FAX software: In order to send or receive faxes with Windows 98, you must install a FAX application which is specifically compatible with Windows 98. If your Aptiva system shipped with Windows 98 pre-installed, you may already have a FAX application installed.

NOTE: Not all Windows 95 FAX applications will function properly under Window 98. Refer to the software vendor for additional compatibility information.
