Machine: PC Server 330 (8640 - PB0, PM0 and PT0), built up to 24 Nov - see serial numbers below.
This is a MANDATORY Engineering Change Announcement. A LIST OF ALL AFFECTED MACHINES BY COUNTRY AND FIRST-TIER DEALER/DISTRIBUTOR has been sent to all IBM PSS & Tech Support contacts.
Reason: Development Testing revealed a problem in the onboard RAID firmware. This does not occur in most tests or operations, but it has the potential to cause data corruption. Corrected RAID firmware has been introduced in Manufacturing and MUST be "Flashed" into all machines shipped before that change.
Process: Shut down and reboot the Server 330, and note the RAID firmware level. If it is 97239, then flash-update it using the following diskette. READ RETAIN TIP H162305 (also on PartnerInfo) AND THE DISKETTE README for full instructions.

-Select SEARCH.
-Type "ServeRAID II Firmware" in the Keywords box, then select SEARCH.
-Select the File with the following description: "IBM PC Server 330 (8640-PB0, PM0, PT0) ServeRAID II Onboard Controller
Firmware Update Diskette V2.31"
The diskette will also be available on PartnerInfo using the above search key.
