TP 600,770/ED - Cannot make or keep connections to x2 servers with the internal ACP Modem

SYMPTOM:
Some users are experiencing problems getting connected to x2 servers when using their internal modem on ThinkPad 600 and 770/ED machines with the ACP Modem. Some users are also seeing a disconnection occur after being connected to some types of USR servers from specific locations with unique phone line qualities. In some cases, users would also see an x2 connection try to fall back to make a V.34 connection, but instead would result in a disconnection.
CONFIGURATION:
Any ThinkPad 600, 770, or 770ED with the internal ACP Modem running ACP modem version 2.35a or 2.36 on Windows 95 or Windows 98, or version 2.35a running on Windows NT 4.0.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
If the V.90 code has been installed, this patch is not necessary but it will help if the modem will be making a x2 connection.
