TP 390,1720 - Creating a hibernation file after installing additional memory
Applicable to: World-Wide
SYMPTOM:
After changing the amount of installed memory the hibernation file or partition size needs to be increased as well.
CONFIGURATION:
ThinkPad 390 or i Series 1720 with Windows 95/98.
SOLUTION:

The Hibernation file can be created in one of two ways:

Method 2 is NOT recommended to create the hibernation file as it gives varying results with excessively large file sizes.
Method 1.
a. Build the Hibernation Utility Diskette from diskette factory, or click here to download the file from the FTP server.
b. It is recommended that before creating a hibernation file, that the hard drive is defragmented.
c. Place the Hibernation Utility Diskette in the floppy drive and power on the system.
d. Select option number 2: Create file for hibernation.
e. Follow the prompts on the screen.
f. Remove the diskette and press the space bar to reboot.
Method 2.
a. Using the PHDISK command.
b. Restart the system in MS-DOS mode or click on Start ==> Programs ==> MS-DOS Prompt from within Windows 95/98.
c. Execute the command: c:\thinkpad\phdisk /c 134851 /f (note: this process will create a 131 MB hibernation file)
