TP 365 - Problems with sound quality
Applicable to: World-Wide
Description:
Some files play OK, others produce lots of static and sound terrible.
Solution:
The problem is probably being caused by not having the Single Mode DMA selected in the Multimedia setup (this is set correctly when the system is new, but if Windows 95 is reinstalled this setting defaults to off and must be manually re-selected.)
1. Go into Control Panel and select Multimedia.
2. Click the Advanced tab and expand the Audio Devices section of the device list.
3. Double click on Audio for ESS ES1688 Audio Drive and then hit the Settings button on the next screen displayed.
4. Place a check mark in the "Use single mode DMA" box and then click OK.
5. Restart Win95 and everything should be fine.
