PS/1-Aptiva - What is the RENAME/REN command?
Applicable to: United States
The RENAME command (which can be abbreviated REN) is entered from the DOS command prompt. The REN command changes the name of the file specified in the first parameter to the name and extension given in the second parameter.
Following is the correct syntax for the RENAME or REN command:
REN [drive:][path] filename1 filename2
For example, to rename the file TEST.BAT on drive C to TRIAL.BAT, you would use the following command:
REN C:\TEST.BAT TRIAL.BAT
NOTE: You can not specify a new drive or path for your destination file.
