Aptiva - Booting up to the Aptiva Menu instead of Windows
Applicable to: United States
To load the Aptiva menu at bootup instead of going into Windows, do the following:
1. Exit Windows and go to the DOS prompt. Do NOT use the DOS Prompt icon in Windows for this.
2. Enter the command: E C:\PS1TOOLS\PS1START.BAT
3. You'll see the contents of the PS1START.BAT file displayed for you. The first 4 lines will look like:
@ECHO OFF
:STARTWIN
WIN.COM
:MENU
4. The cursor will be in front of the @ character in @ECHO OFF on the first line, so press the End key (to the right of the Enter key on the keyboard) to move the cursor to the end of that line and then press the Enter key to open up a blank line.
5. Type the following in that blank line: GOTO MENU
6. Now press F4 to cause the change to be saved and return you to DOS.
7. Reboot the system, and if the changes were all done correctly, you'll be in the Aptiva Menu instead of Windows when the bootup process is complete.
