IBM PC300GL (Type 6561, 6591) - Video corruption around mouse cursor and control buttons under Windows 95
Applicable to: World-Wide
SYMPTOM:
User experiences corruption around the mouse cursor and/or corruption of the minimize and maximize buttons in a program window title bar. The corruption around the mouse cursor usually takes the shape of a square pattern a little bigger than 1' x 1'. Other forms of video corruption may also be noticeable.
CONFIGURATION:
6561, 6591 with Windows 95 and Cirrus Logic 546X video driver level 1.62a or 1.70d.
RESOLUTION:
Perform a proper install of Cirrus Logic 1.70d driver or a later version.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
This video corruption problem can be prevented by applying version 1.70d of the CL driver. However, the user must be careful to thoroughly update all .dll files. When upgrading to 1.70d, the user may twice get a window titled 'Version Conflict' warning that a file being copied is older than an exisiting file of the same name. The user is asked if they want to keep the newer file or not. The default is 'yes,' which prevents the
file on the 1.70d driver diskette from updating the previously installed file. The two files for which the user may be prompted are msvert.dll and msvcirt.dll.
