Aptiva - (2144-9xx/2168-9xx Pentium Models) Wobble Problem

Applicable to: World-Wide

Symptoms:
Unstable image after powering monitor OFF and ON while system unit has been left ON. Occurs with Aptiva 21xx-9xx Pentium motherboards and IBM G40,G41,G50 and G70 (1438/1458/1558/1764) monitors.

Problem Isolation Aids:
If the system unit is booted and the monitor turned ON (in any sequence) then the image appears normal. If the monitor is subsequently either:-
a. Powered OFF and ON again.
b. its Interface cable is removed and re-attached.

Then a 'Wobble' problem exists whereby width & horizontal position continually move/jitter.

Fix:
Disable DDC on G40/G41/G50/G70 when used with Aptiva 21xx-9xx Pentium models. This can be performed via monitor keypad (Press-And-Hold Key 13, Left-Hand Trap Key for 15 secs until screen flashes). DDC disabled,is indicated by the G40/G41/G50/G70 LED being AMBER for the first 2 secs on power-up.

No customer impact as DDC is disabled on 21xx-9xx Pentium models at present.
