IBM IntelliStation M Pro (Type 6889) - Crystal Audio installs "Disabled Device"

Applicable to: World-Wide

SYMPTOM:
After installing the Crystal Audio device drivers from the Ready-To-Configure (RTC) CDROM, Windows Device Manager shows two Crystal Audio drivers and one "Disabled Device."

PROBLEM ISOLATION AIDS:
This tip applies to IBM IntelliStation M Pro Series 6889 systems that have been installed with Windows 95.

The installed devices listed under Crystal Audio will be shown as, or be similar to the following:

Crystal PnP Audio System CODEC
Crystal PnP Audio System Control Registers
Disabled Device

FIX:
No corrective action is needed.

By default, the Crystal Audio device driver searches for a game port during installation. The "Disabled Device" is a result of no dedicated game port being installed in the system.
