II. Replacing the INF file to get the ATI Tech. - Enhanced choice again.
What do I do if ATI Tech. - Enhanced is not a choice?
Note: The following copies the file macxw4.inf into the correct subdirectory.
1. First try to copy the file from the following place:
copy c:\windows\options\cabs\macxw4.inf c:\windows\info\*.*
2. You will need to follow the steps above to change the video driver.
If the above fails,
1. Have the customer put the Diagnostics and Utility CD in the CD-ROM Drive.
2. Go to a DOS Prompt. (Start - Programs - MS-DOS Prompt)
3. Have the customer type the following:
copy g:\disk\ativideo\ati\*.inf c:\windows\*.*
NOTE: where g: is the driver letter of the CD-ROM drive.
2. You now will need to follow the steps above to change the video driver.
á
III. Booting to Safe Mode, change to a VGA Driver and reboot to do the INF instructions above. This is because the CD-ROM Drive does not exist in Safe Mode.
What do I do if the customer is booting and gets only green vertical lines for video?
Note: The customer will have video when the IBM screen and the Windows 95 Logo screen appear. It will only be in Windows 95 that he will receive the green lines.
1. Have the customer reboot the machine by hitting Ctl-Alt-Del several times.
2. When the Starting Windows 95 screen appears, Hit F8 to go into Safe Mode.
3. Choose Option 3, Safe Mode.
4. Right click on the Desktop.
5. Choose Properties
6. Click on the Settings Tab. (If the ATI Tabs are not present then the wrong driver is installed.)
7. Click on Advanced Properties.
8. On the Adapter screen, click on Change.
9. Click the Show all devices.
10. Choose (Standard display types). This is the first option.
11. Choose Standard Display Adapter (VGA).
12. Click OK to exit out of all of the Windows and reboot.
13. When you reboot, follow the instructions above. (Note: Do NOT choose a driver in the ATI Technologies section. If you are confused, call an LPS.)
