TP General - Cannot select option to hibernate after suspend in ThinkPad Configuration program
Applicable to: World-Wide
SYMPTOM:
Using Thinkpad Features version 4.12 or above for Windows 95/98, the option in Thinkpad Configuration Power Management settings to have the system hibernate 30, 60, or 90 minutes after suspend is grayed out and unselectable.
CONFIGURATION:
This applies to all Thinkpad models running latest Thinkpad Configuration Programs in Windows 95 or Windows 98. The tip may apply to other operating systems as the Thinkpad Configuration program is updated.
SOLUTION:
This is working as intended. The Hibernate after suspend option is disabled if the "resume on ring" option is selected under the "suspend resume options" tab. These items are mutually exclusive, so that if resume on ring is selected, hibernate after suspend cannot be selected. If the resume on ring checkbox is cleared, the hibernation option can then be selected.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Context sensitive help has been added to the Thinkpad Configuration program. Clicking any object or setting in any of the power management options with the alternate mouse or TrackPoint button results in the "What's This? dialog. Clicking on "What's this?" will explain the feature or function associated with that setting, including limitations, such as the one that is the subject of this tip.
