G70 Monitors - Self test pattern "breaking up"

Symptom:
Multicolored vertical bars of monitor self test pattern show break up or 'tearing' when monitor is unplugged from system unit.
Problem isolation aids:
All models of D/T6544 (G70) monitor are affected. When connected to a system unit, the monitor functions normally.
Fix:
This is not considered to be a functional failure, the monitor should not be replaced.
