IBM IntelliStation/IBM PC - IBM 56Kbps ISA modem (P/N 01K1217) will not fit into ISA slot
Applicable to: World-Wide
PROBLEM:
Protruding loops on the chassis and above and below each slot on some machines prevent the modem cable brackets from fitting properly against the chassis.
PERMANENT SOLUTION:
Parts exchange the modem.
EXPLANATION:
A certain number of 6561, 6591, 6862, 6892, and 6893 systems were designed with loop-shaped protrusions near the adapter slots which are intended to provide extra support for installed adapters. The gap between the loops is about 20 mm. A certain number of 56Kbs ISA PnP modems were designed with gray plastic DAA covers that are thicker than 20 mm (21-25 mm) and will not properly fit in machines with these belt loops.
FRU stock has been reworked to eliminate the thick DAA covers.
