Aptiva - Cannot receive faxes from certain machines.

Symptom:
Customer cannot receive faxes from certain fax machines.
Problem Isolation Aid:
None
Fix:
In order to compensate for this earlier lack of a standard, the Mwave discriminator C:\MWW\DISCRIM\DISCAPP.EXE under Options, DTMF Code... gives you the ability to set a DTMF code (Dual Tone Multi-Frequency) that the Mwave discriminator can use to discriminate between a fax and a message. The default for receiving faxes is *3. To use the code tell the customer to have the sender of the fax put in several pauses, e.g. 4 pauses, followed by *3. Most fax machines have a pause button on them. When the Fax is sent the DTMF codes should alert the Mwave that the incoming call is a fax.
Notes:
- Beware, your remote message retrieval password cannot begin with 3.
- This is especially effective for the fax machines in the HelpCenter.
