Aptiva - 2140/2142 Considerations - Iomega Zip Drive

Unable to find IOMEGA ZIP drive tools on Utility CD. Detail: Cannot find the IOMEGA directory for ZIP tools on the Utility CD. Answer / Workaround: The ZIP tools are on the Utility under the "Win95 Stuff" directory. These drivers are designed for use with the ATAPI version of the Internal ZIP drive (as these system come with), and ONLY install on the system if a ZIP drive is present. Severity: 2 Preload(s): Both

Zip will not operate with system unit on side. Detail: The Zip drive will not work if the system tower is on it's side with the BUTTON SIDE UP. It is acceptable to place the minitower system on it's side as long as the Zip Drive has the eject button on the BOTTOM below the slot. Answer / Workaround: This is a limitation of the Zip drive design. Severity: 3 Preload(s): Both

Third party CDRom not working when Zip installed. Detail: Some CD-ROMs may not work properly with the Iomega Zip Drive when the CD-ROM is a SLAVE and the Zip Drive is MASTER. The root cause of this issue is a FIRMWARE BUG in the CD-ROM, not the Iomega Zip Drive. Answer / Workaround: The user will need to contact the CD-ROM manufacturer for the latest Firmware updates for the CD-ROM drive. This is not an issue with the CDRom(s) on 2140-2142 systems.
