Crossbrand - Notes on installing Microsoft Windows 95

Service Information:
Below is a list of considerations to be made before you install Windows 95 on an IBM PC:
1. If original preload erased hardfile and then Windows 95 is installed, rapid resume does not operate properly. Utility to address this is being pursued.
2. Over Select-a-System preload (from dual boot to DOS/Windows), the following applications should be removed prior to installing Windows 95: Anyview, Welcome Center, Antivirus, Crystal, Netfinity, and Cosession. Using OS/2 Warp and Windows 95 is not recommended. Once Windows 95 is installed, Windows applications cannot be called from OS/2 Warp (using WIN-OS/2).
3. Over a DOS/Windows preload, the following applications should be removed prior to installing Windows 95: Anyview, Welcome Center, Antivirus, Crystal, Netfinity, and Cosession. Once Windows 95 is installed, Windows applications cannot be called from OS/2 Warp (using WIN-OS/2).
4. Consider the Windows 95 32-bit Crystal (audio) driver for optimization.
5. Consider the Windows 95 32-bit Diamond Viper Pro driver for optimization.
6. Compatiblity testing has been done to-date with beta level OS/2 code and software compatibility tests (SCTs).
7. Consider the Windows 95 32-bit Busmaster IDE driver for optimization.
8. Test has suggested the following settings for the IBM 16\4 Token-Ring adapter:

9. Test has reported problems with the following adapters with Windows 95 beta code: IBM Ethernet, Accton Lin Series EN1203, Zynx Etheraction PCI, Racal N16510 UTP, IBM 16\4 token ring II (long), Thomas Conrad 4045, Silcom Direct, and Viper Pro (beta).
