IBM PC - Inaccurate Time/Date and/or OS/2 Reports Clock Error Messages
Applicable to: World-Wide
Symptom:
Time/date repeatedly become inaccurate. OS/2 reports various clock error messages.
Problem Isolation Aids:
Planar board has barcode label number 8131271 or 8131590. These planar levels had a clock bug.
Note:
Only a handful of these planars were released to the field within very early build level machines and most of these have been picked up on since, such that the field exposure is now virtually zero. This tip has been released primarily for awareness to cover extremely isolated instances.
Fix:
If you come across planar levels 8131271 or 8131590 in the field then replace through normal Warranty procedures using FRU P/N 88G4282 for PC 300 P60 or FRU P/N 88G4270 for PC 700.
Note:
1. FRU P/N 88G4282 is supplied minus processor and memory - these must be removed from the Customer's planar prior to return to IBM and re-installed onto the replacement planar.
2. FRU P/N 88G4270 is supplied minus processor, memory and L2 cache - these must be removed from the Customer's planar prior to return to IBM and re-installed onto the replacement planar.
