Network Station - ICA color melt problem - solution

Applicable to: World-Wide

Symptom:
Color flash when starting the ICA Client on IBM Network Station.

Solution:
Add the following line to defaults.dft

set wincenter-colors = all-clients

This will cause the color palatte to be setup for windows colors and there will not be any color flash when starting the ICA client (this alters all the colors slightly). The end result is that the IBM background will appear purple instead of blue. The best way to avoid this is to set the background color for the Network Station in NSM to be a solid color (black works the best). To set the background color:

  1. Open NSM and go to Hardware.
  2. Select workstations.
  3. Select System Defaults.
  4. Select Monitor Settings section.
  5. Select Desktop Background.
  6. Select the second radio button. It is next to a drop down box that by default will say IBM bitmap.
  7. Click on the down arrow to expand the drop down box.
  8. Select black.
  9. Click on finish.
