IBM Aptiva/PC - Distorted sound/video with IDE CD-ROM & multimedia application

Symptom:
Aptiva and IBM PCs may experience garbled sound or choppy video while playing DOS and Windows multimedia applications from an IDE CD-ROM.
Problem Isolation Guidance:
Problem is due to a downlevel (earlier than v1.21) driver IBMIDECD.SYS
Fix:
Install the latest IDE CD-ROM device driver.
