Applicable to: World-Wide
TEXT:
When installing a Madge 16/4 ISA Token Ring adapter in the IBM IntelliStation M Pro Series 6889 systems preloaded with Windows NT, it is necessary to configure the adapter in non plug-and-play mode.
The Madge 16/4 ISA Token Ring adapter can be configured via the following steps:
1. Using the CDROM provided with adapter, go to the following directory: \LSS.500\UTILS\DOS
2. Run TRCFGC / LEGACY
3. Select the number corresponding to the Madge adapter.
4. Configure the adapter to your desired settings (I/O address location and IRQ).
5. Save the setting, and power the system down. Do not perform a CTRL+ALT+DEL shutdown.
6. Power on the system, run <F1> Setup, and reserve the resources for the setting that were programmed into the adapter.
7. Boot DOS.
8. Switch to the \LSS.500\UTILS\DOS directory on the CDROM supplied with the adapter and run DIAG.EXE.
9. Observe the setting for the adapter card and confirm that they match what you had selected in step 4.
10. Boot Windows NT, go to Control Panel, Network, Adapters, and view the properties for the Madge adapter.
11. You will observe a setting window appear for the Adapter. Select the I/O address and IRQ that you had programmed into the card.
12. Save the setting by clicking on OK. The system will prompt the user to restart Windows NT.
