TP General - How to determine if Microsoft video for Windows is installed

This document contains information on how determine if Microsoft Video for Windows is Installed.

Note: Even though you may have MS Video installed on your system, it may not be the latest version. If playing an AVI file gives an error 'unable to find a CODEC', and you do have MS Video installed, then you may need to upgrade. Any upgrades will come from Microsoft.

Windows 3.1x:
1. Start Windows 3.1x.
2. Double click on the Accessories icon.
3. Double click on the Media Player icon.
4. Click on Device from the title bar.
5. If Video for Windows is listed then it is installed.

Windows 95:
1. Start Windows 95.
2. Click on Start.
3. Select Programs.
4. Select Accessories.
5. Select Multimedia.
6. Select Media Player.
7. Click on Device from the title bar.
8. If Video for Windows is listed then it is installed.
