Aptiva - Is free drive space available on the hard drive partitions?

In Windows 95:
There are several ways to see how much space is available on a hard drive partition:

Method 1:

1. Double-click on My Computer.

2. Right-Click on the drive partition you wish to check.

3. Choose Properties from the menu that appears. You should now see a graph showing how much drive space is available.

NOTE: On hard drive partitions larger than 2 GB, the graph may not be accurate. This is a limitation of Windows 95, and is not a problem with your Aptiva system or the hard drive.

Method 2:

1. From the Start Menu, choose Programs.

2. Choose Windows Explorer.

3. Click on the drive partition you wish to check.

4. The available drive space should be listed on the status bar on the bottom of the Explorer window.

In DOS:

There are a few different ways to see how much space is available on a hard drive partion:

Method 1: At the command prompt, on the partition you wish to check, (i.e. C:\ or D:\) type "Dir" then press "Enter". The avaliable drive space should listed as " (number) bytes free", where (number) = an integer, at the bottom on the on-screen text

Method 2: At the command prompt, on the partition you wish to check, type "CHKDSK" then press "Enter". One of the listings will be "(number) bytes available on disk", where (number) = an integer.

In OS/2:

1. Double click on the "OS/2 System" Icon.

2. Double click on the "Drives" Icon.

3. Double click on the drive letter you wish to check.

4. The amount of available free disk space will be listed at the top of the window.

NOTE: DOS Methods 1 & 2 can also be used from an OS/2 command prompt.
