TP General - How to recreate a docked configuration

Applicable to: World-Wide

This document contains information on how to recreate a Docked Configuration for your ThinkPad under Windows 95.

Note: You must have the *.CAB files intact on your system, or have your reload media available prior to performing this operation. Recreating the Docked Configuration will require drivers to be installed from these two sources.

First you must remove the existing Docked Configuration:
1. Shutdown ThinkPad and remove from Docking Station.
2. Reboot and go into Windows 95.
3. Click on Start, Settings, and then Control Panel.
4. Doubleclick on System Icon.
5. Click on the Hardware Profiles Tab.
6. Click on the Dock 1 or what ever the customer called his docked configuration.
7. Click on Remove.
8. Shutdown Windows 95.

Now you can recreate the docked configuration.
1. Put ThinkPad back into Docking Station.
2. Ensure that the appropriate drive for Reload Media is in unit. (e.g., CD-ROM or FDD.)
3. Turn ThinkPad on.
4. Windows will automatically rebuild the dock 1 configuration. Note: This may take several minutes.
5. Give whatever media the operating system asks for (i.e., Disk 15, or Windows 95 CD-ROM.)

You have now successfully recreated the docked configuration for the Thinkpad.
