Aptiva - Re-installing Aptiva Communication Center

If it should become necessary to erase the Aptiva Communication Center and then re-install it, important sub-directories will not be re-created unless these procedures are followed:
Aptiva 2144/2168 Models:

In order to use this procedure, you must first have APTRSTOR.EXE program for reloading software on your machine. To download the file, click here .
Reinstall of the Phoenix software-
1.) Put in the Aptiva Multi-media Recovery CD ROM into the CD ROM drive.
2.) Go to a DOS Prompt.
3.) Type 'restore \phoenix\*.*' then press <ENTER>.
4.) The software will now be installed.
If you deleted the c:\phoenix directory, then reloaded, the following steps will need to be taken to make certain the program has been installed properly.
1.) To do this type: 'C:' and then press <ENTER>.
2.) Type 'CD\ps1tools\ibmboot' and then press <ENTER>.
3.) At this prompt "c:\psltools\ibmboot>" type "ibmrun" and press <ENTER>. This will show some errors and files not found (the file does more than just create the phoenix directories however, the errors you see are not causing a problem. Also, they do not indicate a problem. Please ignore them.)
4.) The prompt will now be "c:\pheonix\fax\queue>". At this prompt type "exit" and reboot your computer. The Phoenix software will be reinstalled correctly.
Aptiva 2134/2176 Models:

Your system has a utility called the Aptiva Installer. Use this utility to reload the Aptiva Communications Center program.
To do so:
1. Click on "start" the "Aptiva Installer"
2. Click on the tab labled "Show installed programs"
3. Locate the "Aptiva communications center " Icon and click on it one time.
4. Insert the diagnostice and utillities CD into the CD-rom drive.
5. Click on Reinstall.
Note: you can also use the Aptiva installer to unistall the Communications Center completely then reinstall it using the "show uninstalled programs" area of the Aptiva installer.
