Aptiva - Windows 98 letter sent to customers

Applicable to: United States

Dear Valued Customer:

The Microsoft® Windows® 98 Upgrade CD recently sent to you by IBM, when installed, may cause your system to stop at the Windows 98 logo screen. Therefore, if you have not done so already, please do not install the Windows 98 Upgrade with the initial CD (part no. X03-36212). You will be receiving a replacement Windows 98 Upgrade CD (part no. 730-00748) within two
weeks that will allow proper installation of Windows 98 on your Aptiva® computer.

If you have already installed the initial Windows 98 CD and your computer stops at the Windows 98 logo screen, please follow the step-by-step instructions on the back of this letter to restore the proper settings in Windows 98.

Upon your receipt of the replacement Windows 98 Upgrade CD, you may discard the initial Upgrade CD you received. Remember to keep the replacement Windows 98 Upgrade CD in a safe place.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding. For additional information please visit the Aptiva Support site at http://www.pc.ibm.com/us/aptiva. Owner Privileges members may use the phone number received with their membership.

Sincerely,
IBM, Owner Privileges
