Description
The Utility Driver package for Windows 95/98 provides the following utility programs for Windows 95 and Windows 98 with APM support:

Additional Information:

NOTE: This driver will now automatically extract to your hard drive. It will only extract under Windows 95, Windows 98, and Windows NT. The extraction process will NOT work with any other operating system.

Installation Guide

NOTE: If a previous version is already installed, it must be uninstall before installing this update. Use the Add/Remove Program icon in Control panel. Depending on which version of the driver is installed, the driver's name may be different. Please check for both 'Hot Swap Driver' and 'Hot/Warm Swap Driver'. If no item is displayed in Add/Remove Programs, follow the << case A >> steps below.
(It will happen only when you installed Utility Diskette for Windows 95 V4.10 or earlier, because the uninstallation program was not supported at that time.)

<< Case A >>
a. Click on 'Start' -> 'Settings' -> 'Control Panel' -> 'System'.
b. Click on the 'Device Manager' tab.
c. Select IBM ThinkPad UltraBay and UltraBay Hot Swap Driver then click on Properties.
d. Check on Disable in hardware profile. Click on 'Ok'.
e. Restart the operating system.
f. Go back to Device Manager and highlight UltraBay Hot Swap Driver. Click on Remove.
g. Restart the operating system.

Installing the driver:
1. Start Windows 95/98.
2. Extract the drivers onto the hard drive.
3. Click on 'Start' -> 'Settings' -> 'Control Panel'.
4. Select Add New Hardware from Control Panel.
5. At the 'Begin installing your new hardware window, Select Next.
If installing on Windows 95 continue to step 6.
If installing on Windows 98 do the following:
- At the 'search for new Plug and Play devices' windows, click Next.
- At the 'Is the device that you want to install listed below?' window, select 'No, the device isn't in the list.' and click on Next.
6. When prompted 'Do you want Windows to search for your new hardware?' choose 'No, I want to select the hardware from a list' and click Next.
7. Under Hardware types, select 'Other devices' and click Next.
8. At the 'Select the manufacturer' window, click on the Have Disk... button.
9. Specify the directory where the driver files are extracted. Default path is C:\DRIVERS\W9X\BAYSWAP\. Then click on 'OK' button. Then driver list appears.
10. Select 'ThinkPad UltraBay Hot/Warm Swap Driver' and click Next.
11. Click the Finish button.
12. If you had to follow the steps in << case A >> , you may see the following warning dialog.
A file being copied is older than the file currently on your computer. It is recommended that you keep you existing file.

Select No to ignore it, and continue the installation.
11. Restart the operating system.

- (New) The ThinkPad UltraBay Hot Swap Driver was regrouped. It was included in the version 4.10 Utility Diskette for Windows 95 previously.
- (New) Support for 770E and 770ED.
- (New) Support the standard installation and uninstall.
- (New) Supported DVD drive.
- (Fix) The system will freeze by hot swapping if Control Panel is opened.
- (Fix) When the system boots with a CD-ROM drive, hot swapping may not work correctly.
- (Fix) When VPOWERD is not enabled, the VxD shows a blue error screen. The resolution and color settings are available.
- (Restriction) When CD-ROM or DVD drive is not installed in the UltraBay and TokenRing card is installed, the hot swapping will fail as a default. To avoid this problem, prior to the hot swapping the TokenRing Card should be set up as other IRQ than IRQ15 (IRQ9 is recommended.) in Resources tab of the TokenRing Properties in Device Manager.
