Aptiva - Problems using the Numeric Keypad in Windows 95
Applicable to: World-Wide
Question:
I have an Aptiva preloaded with Windows 95. When I use the Numeric Keypad (in any application) nothing happens. Is my keyboard broken?
Answer:
If your keyboard were to fail, you would receive a 301 error when the machine did its Power On Self Test (POST) at bootup. If
your machine booted without an error, then you can try the following steps to get the Numeric Keypad working again.
1. Boot to Windows 95. Make sure the Num Lock light is lit above the keypad. If not, press the "Num Lock" key on the keypad to turn on the light and then test the Numeric Keypad. If it still does not function proceed to the next step.
2. Click on "START" and choose "SETTINGS" and select "CONTROL PANEL".
3. Find "ACCESSIBILITY OPTIONS" and double-click it.
4. Click on the "MOUSE" tab at the top.
5. Remove the checkmark beside "USE MOUSE KEYS".
6. Close the windows and try the Numeric Keypad again.
