Aptiva - Missing CD-ROM Drive on Windows 95 Service Level H and I Machines

Symptom:
Missing CD-ROM Drive or system is running in MS-DOS compatibility mode.

Background:
A fix file has been created to correct this problem. The name of the file is OPTICDFIX.EXE, click here to download the file.

Solution:
Download and install the file. This file is intended to correct problems associated with all Windows 95 Service Level H and I Machines which are running in MS-DOS compatibility mode and have lost use of the CD-ROM drive. This file may also be used to prevent the problem from occurring. It should be reapplied after any re-install of the preload. This file also applies to United States Service Level H models which have been upgraded to Windows '95.

This file may also be used on other Windows 95 systems. Please back up any personnel data before applying this fix. This fix will modify your Windows 95 Registry. If this fix does not solve your problem a reload of your system will be required.
