Aptiva - 2144/2168 (SL-H) Considerations: Disabling Rapid Resume when using DOS multimedia applications
Applicable to: World-Wide
Situation:
If a system is powered off while running a DOS multimedia application with Rapid Resume enabled, disable Rapid Resume. Here are some symptoms:
Jump Start
1. Loss of sound.
2. Runs slower.
3. Cannot exit application.
Undersea Adventure
1. Vertical bars appear on the screen.
2. Loss of sound.
3. Locks-up when playing a movie.
Descent
1. Loss of sound.
Cyberia
1. Loss of sound.
2. Locks-ups.
Jack Nicklaus Golf
1. Loss of sound.
2. Locks-up.
SI for Kids
1. Loss of sound.
2. Locks-up.
Solution:
The solution is not to power off the machine while a DOS application (using sound) is running. Disable Rapid Resume when using the application.
