IBM PC300GL (Type 6265, 6275, 6285)/PC300PL (Type 6862, 6892) - PC Doctor for Windows hangs at CD-ROM/DVD test

SYMPTOM:
After installing PC Doctor for Windows 95/98 from the Ready-To-Configure (RTC) CD, and running "Quick Test", the system enters a hang condition when "Quick Test" reaches test number 22 of 35, testing CD-ROM/DVD devices.

PROBLEM ISOLATION AIDS:
This tip applies, but is not limited, to the following IBM systems preloaded with Windows 95/98, and installed with PC Doctor for Windows version 2.0.139.

IBM PC300PL Series 6862/6892
IBM PC300GL Series 6275/6285

FIX:
No fix is needed.

This is a highly intermittent, false error that may be caused by the interaction of certain programs and PC Doctor for Windows 95/98 version 2.0.139. The cause of this interaction is being investigated and should be corrected in a future update of PC Doctor for Windows 95/98.

If the end user desires, proper operation of the CD-ROM/DVD devices can be verified by restarting the system from a bootable PC Doctor for DOS diskette.
