Receiving a chcons Error When Running a mksysb Clone

Environment

OS Level: AIX Version 4.1.5
Type/Model: 590

Problem

While running a clone, the following message displays when selecting the tape drive to be installed:

chcons: /dev/tty0 will be assigned as the console.  This will be effective
on next system reboot.

The install subsequently hangs at the LED display C46 (normal install processing).

Solution

The console field of the bosinst.data file of the mksysb tape causes this error. Run the following series of commands to correct the problem:

rm /bosinst.data
rm /var/adm/ras/bosinst.data
mksysb -i /dev/rmt0

Rerun the clone, and afterward, the problem should be solved.
