Description: Prob. installed tivoli netview v5.1/ trying to get it to
work with nways product.
* Available hours 8-5/ Eastern time zone.
ACTION TAKEN: MISQUEUE; Requeue to NetView AIX Support Team
A:
Action Taken: Contacted customer. Customer has installed NetView 5.1 on
a NT 4.0, Service Pack 4. Customer also installed nways 2.0 (element
manager). After many tries both products are installed.
The Problem at this time is that
Objects are not being discovered. She only had 1 out of 40 of her
8238's discovered. The bitmap came up generic as well. None of
her 8260's was discovered (3 of these).
Action Plan: Research.
Action Taken: Called Sherry twice, once in, once not in. Let her
know to check via her Gui: Options=>Discovery. Look on the Discovery
tab to verify what type she has. She can either do Local Network,
Entire Network or Seed file only. I left a message suggesting to
her that she create a seed file with the nodes she wants discovered and
either add it to the discovery she already has or clear databases and
rediscover with the seed file.
Aciton Plan: wcbk.
Action Taken: Customer created seed file that contained her four
8260 objects. She cleared her databases and rediscovered with
Discover Seed Nodes Only. It discovered the four 8260 objects. The
ability for those objects to execute via nways is unavailble.
Requeue to axlan for further assistance.
Thank you.

Had customer setup snmptrace in Nways. In the process, I had customer
check for class files in the CLASSPATH. The "mlsoft.jar" class file
was not present. Not sure why. I emailed my class file to the customer
and when she placed it in the CLASSPATH directory, the JMAs started
working OK.
THe customer is pleased to have the problem resolved. As a follow-up,
I asked customer to let me know if she located the "mlsoft.jar" file
anywhere else on her platform. Also, I indicated that I would report
the missing file for any feedback on possible reasons for it being
missing.(could possibly be a defect associated with install).
This PMR can be closed except for properly researching the basis for
the missing "mlsoft.jar" file after the Nways install.
